Wall of color & design inspiration
(color squares are actually carpet swatches) |
Because of my job as a merchant for rugs, I was able to go on some rug factory tours in Dalton, GA in January. Let me just say if you've never thought about what goes into making carpet or a rug, the engineered and technical production of such is pretty fascinating. Most carpet & rugs sold in the USA are made from PolyPropelene, which essentially is plastic bottles. Yes, I said plastic bottles. The beginning stage of the fiber is basically a plastic pellet (similar looking to rice) and then the extrusion and spinning process makes it into useable yarn. Just thought I'd share some photos from my trip. Maybe you'll think twice whenever you buy a rug for your home...I know I do.
