For several years now, I have been collecting children's Christmas books; I suppose it's sort of a tradition. I'm not really a collector of anything in particular, otherwise, but these books are special to me. Every year, I put them out at Christmastime on display and read through a couple of them.
After college, my parents started giving me one book each year as a Christmas gift. They all have a special meaning. My personal favorite is "The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey." If you haven't read it, you should. The illustrations are truly beautiful. It might make you cry, but it will also make you smile and appreciate the true Christmas story through the eyes of a child & a lonely carpenter. My memory of this book goes back to my freshman year in college, when my junior roommate, Joanna (who was sort of our room mother and fit the part perfectly), read this book to me and my friend Ruth on our bunk beds one night before Christmas break. I will always remember Jo for that moment of sharing.

Our Christmas this year
| New desk & bookcase |
For Christmas this year, instead of getting a few gifts for each other like we have in the past, we instead decided to re-furnish our office with a new desk and bookcase. We had an old desk in there that belonged to Zane's brother when he was in high school, so believe me it had it's years of love & use and was showing its age. It served its purpose, but we were ready for a freshened up change. We also have a plethora of books, namely interior design books, fiction, nonfiction and college books that needed a home besides the floor. Hopefully, this new change will help our office stay more organized.

Why not begin this blog today?
Some of my friends have blogs. I have to admit I wonder how they have time to maintain them, but I enjoy (when I myself have the time) reading them and getting ideas and tips from them. There are several blogs I occasionally check to gain inspiration from (see posted at bottom of my home page).
So...here goes...this will be my attempt at blogging. I'm sort of anxious to see what will become of this and what path it will lead me down, but for now, consider this my first official blog post. Hopefully I can commit to this enough to inspire some of you in decorating your homes and enjoying them with the ones you love. My plan is to post ideas, projects, decorating images & tips that will inspire you to create your own home decor masterpiece.
So now what should I write...?
